
Company SafCo and ICCA invite you to the joint seminar on „Legislative and Economic Aspects of
Waste Management“.
SafCo is an independent company operating in the field of occupational safety and health. Its duly certified staff has 15+ years of international experience in the sector. SafCo is a licensed provider of international organization IOSH (Institution of Occupational Safety & Health). The company offers its partners a wide variety of occupational safety services so that they can meet the requirements envisaged under the state’s laws, improve safety culture in their companies and adhere to the
internationally approved standards.
The seminar will be focused on introducing participants to the Waste Management Code and providing them with information about the requirements that the waste management regulations impose on legal entities and individuals for sustainable management of their activities. The seminar will also address the role of waste in the economic models of the future.
The one-day seminar will have two parts: the first half of the seminar will shortly review the history of waste; the main focus will be on the hierarchy of waste management and its significance; existing and sustainable models of doing business will be discussed; the trainer will weigh in on the role of circular economy and on waste as a resource.
The second part of the seminar will be dedicated to the recently enacted legislative requirements introduced in the waste management sector – Waste Management Code and other legal documents imposing certain obligations on enterprises. The trainer will thoroughly discuss the requirements set forth by the code so that the participants of the seminar will be able to manage their activities in accordance with the national legislation.
Seminar objectives:
To provide participants with knowledge of the Georgian Waste Management Code and of the
requirements of other related legal documents; introduce them to the hierarchy of waste
management; impart knowledge on circular economy and waste as a resource; influence
participants’ understanding and acceptance of responsible approaches to natural and social
environment and of the principles of sustainable consumption; assist the participants in forming a
responsible approach to natural and social environment.
Seminar impacts:
After the seminar the participants will have a knowledge about the Georgian legislative framework
enacted in the sector of waste management; they will be able to plan and carry out their activities in
conformity with the legal requirements; the participants will be able to plan and implement their
projects in accordance with the waste management requirements and social responsibility principles;
the seminar will help its participants in saving resources during the project planning, implementation
and management stages, in consideration of the waste management hierarchy.
The seminar will be interesting for middle and senior managers in the private sector whose
responsibilities include the management of environmental protection and social issues; considering
that the course does not require a specific knowledge in the field, all stakeholders are welcome to
apply.
The participants will be awarded certificates of attendance.

Trainer: Lika Kvitsinashvili
Field of expertise: Master of Environmental Management; Master of Conflict Analysis and
Management. The trainer has years of experience in working on documents in the field of
environmental protection, land use and related conflict management, environmental impact
assessment and management planning. The trainer is familiar with the environmental and social
standards of international financial institutions and the World Bank and is experienced accordingly.
