The closing event of the project – “Promotion of Professional Education in Construction”


On July 10, ICCA held the closing event of the project “Promotion of Professional Education in
Construction”. Ana Sabakhtarishvili, the executive director of the Association, Zviad Toidze, the
chairperson of the board, and general director of the company INSI, Selma Ulrichs, the leader of the
team of the “Development of the private sector and professional education in the South Caucasus”
program of GIZ, Tamar Kitiashvili, the general director of the Professional Skills Agency, and Ana
Bezhanishvili, head of the Analysis Department of the Ministry of Science. Marika Zakareishvili, GIZ
program expert facilitated the second part of the event, whereas the study “Needs revealed by
construction companies and vocational educational institutions” was presented. Lile Shalikiani, the
manager of the Association’s professional development team presented the study. Experts involved in
the development of priority qualifications for the construction sector: Vakhtang Balavadze, Shorena
Japaridze, and Tamar Rukhadze reviewed the challenges and plans in terms of professional education in
the industry. Sopo Dolidze and Ivane Kebadze spoke about the importance of developing valid
evaluation tools in professional educational programs, they also covered the training meetings held for
the teachers of “Black Sea” College. In his speech, Irakli Khmaladze, head of the land and monolithic
works service of INSI, spoke about the necessity of the private sector’s involvement in the examination
process.
The project was implemented under the GIZ program “Development of the private sector and vocational
education in the South Caucasus”.
