
On October 10 of the current year, in the “Rooms Hotel Tbilisi”, “Infrastructure Construction Companies’ Association” and “Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgias’” LEPL “Technical and Construction Supervision Agency” organized a meeting about the Decree №476 of the Government of Georgia on Technical Regulations on Construction Products. The meeting was attended by representatives of construction products and importer companies as well as customs authorities. Deputy Head of Technical and Construction Supervision Agency, Rati Oboladze briefed the audience about the regulations and requirements set out in it. The meeting was held in active discussion mode. The management of the Agency listened and expressed readiness to discuss opinions and remarks expressed by the participants of the meeting. The technical regulation regulates the conditions for putting the products on the market, by defining their main features and developing the rules of marking. The Rules of Procedure will define the requirements for the cement, armament, plastics pipes and cables and establishes the LEPL – Technical and Construction Supervision Agency of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia as a Market Supervisory Authority. The technical regulation regulates the obligations of producers as well as importers and distributors of construction materials. It also takes into account the obligations of monitoring the next product of the market and implementation of the necessary remedial measures; State supervision procedures and more. Due to the great interest of the business representatives from the meeting, the parties agreed to continue working with the involvement of relevant manufacturers and importers within the framework of the Association and submit the relevant proposals to the Technical and Construction Supervision Agency.
