On March 22 representatives of “Infrastructure Construction Companies’ Association” and “Tax Payers Union” met with the Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure Zurab Alavidze.
The Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure introduced the current and planned projects in the country to the representatives of the companies.
In the Q&A session, they discussed the design, construction and supervisory processes, as well as current and existing shortcomings. “Hundreds of projects ar ebeing implemented in the municipalities and more will start during this year. Our budget has increased with 1 billion GEL, which means that in the coming years we will have huge infrastructural work.
It is especially important for us that the Georgian construction field is ready for this kind of projects. This kind of meeting are perfect opportunity for that. We are absolutely open and willing to engage all the interested companies that have right competences.
“said Zurab Alavidze. Ana Sabakhtarishvili, the Executive Director of the Association, spoke about labor safety issues, presented the initiative on behalf of the Association on adequate reflection of labor safety expenditures in the cost estimates, to which the Minister replied, that he will consider the relevant project prepared by the Association and will support its implementation as far as possible.
He also responded to another initiative on the introduction of international practice, which implies Design Build Operate Maintain. Additionally, the Minister spoke about the consolidated procurement project for project works, which is currently being processed and explained what kind of model it will have and how well it will improve the quality of existing projects.
The meeting was quite interesting and fruitful for all the presented parties.
